CONSIGNOR FEE DETAILS

The rent on the Jim Graham Building (State Fairgrounds) increased to $3000 per day starting January, 2005. With this 2 ½ X increase of past prices, the Kids Exchange must increased the Consignor fee from $3 to $9.00.

When working on ways to cover the increased cost, we researched several other options including changing to a location with less rent. Unfortunately, there are no other facilities offering 100,000 sq. ft. for our event. We also feel that the central location of the State Fairgrounds provides a great, well know location to all Triangle cities. Shoppers are more likely to come out and shop if they are familiar with the location. More shoppers in return will mean more money back to you as a consignor.

The building rent was increased because of the new heating and air conditioning. This temperature controlled environment will make our sale so much nicer. Shoppers will stay long, buy more and be willing to wait in line with your items because of the comfort of the building. We truly feel that consignors will make more money on their items by selling more and selling more at full price. The $6 increase will most likely be made up in your consignor check because of the additional shopping comforts.

Several Consignors asked about charging admission to the sale. We thought long and hard about this option, but in the end, we were concerned that charging a fee to shop would turn away the public shoppers. Our number one goal is to SELL all your items. Turning away shoppers would definitely not be to the consignors' best interest. The Kids Exchange will remain a "free admission" event. We will spend lots of marketing money on getting this word out in Kidsville News, Carolina Parent, the News and Observer, Triangle Kids directory, 10,000 direct mail pieces, several hundred preschool / daycares and much more. The words "FREE ADMISSION" on our literature gets attention and brings the shoppers. :
